Warmer NZ Homes

Is your home insulated? Do you have an efficient heating system like a heat pump? The Warmer Kiwi Homes scheme provides a subsidy for some homeowners for underfloor and ceiling insulation, or the installation of a heat pump. The government recently expanded the number of homes that may be eligible for the subsidy. You might qualify.

The grants cover 80% to 90% of the cost of ceiling and underfloor insulation, and/or up to 80% of the cost of an efficient heater in the main living area.

Age Concern Wellington Region is working with Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority / Te Tari Tiaki Pūngao (EECA) to identify those who may qualify for the Warmer Kiwi Homes initiative to make their homes warmer and dryer in winter, cooler in summer, and healthier.

Age Concern is available to assist homeowners to use the online assessment tool to determine whether they qualify for the subsidies.

One of our contacts recently used the service to discover they were eligible for the grants. A service provider visited to check that their home needed insulation and then arranged for the insulation to be installed. They found the cost was less than expected, and the whole exercise extremely satisfying.

Age Concern can help you find out if you are eligible for a grant.

If you own your own home and would like to find out if you’re eligible, please email  or phone 04 499 6646 (option 5) for more information (leave a message if not answered and we will get back to you asap).
