It’s Almost Time for Making Connections

Join us for Making Connections at the St James Theatre on Tuesday 7 October for a celebration with our senior community members. This special event shines a light on ageing well, fostering connection, wellbeing, and joy for seniors across Wellington, Te Upoko o Te Ika a Maui. From inspiring speakers to service providers and wellness activities, it’s a day to share information together.

As we age, staying connected and informed is vital for both mental and physical wellbeing. This event offers a chance to explore the many ways we can support healthy ageing — from staying active and socially engaged, to learning about services and support available in the community. Whether it’s through movement, mindfulness, or meaningful relationships, ageing well is about living life to the fullest at every stage.

This event is free for seniors, and open to all. Registrations are required to secure your spot. Register at www.acwellington.org.nz/events/making-connections

A huge thank you to our generous sponsors who make this event possible along with Wellington City Council and Venues Wellington team for the Venue Hire.

Our Gold sponsor Summerset is again helping Age Concern’s Making Connections Day happen. We couldn’t hold this event without their vital contribution! Summerset Boulcott will have an information table at the event. Nestled in the Lower Hutt suburb of Boulcott beside the iconic Boulcott’s Farm Heritage Golf Club, Summerset Boulcott offers retirement living with great views of the surrounding valley and lush greens. A stone’s throw from local theatres, supermarkets, Queensgate Shopping Centre, medical centres, and a hospital, residents have many services and activities within easy reach. Visit their website.

Our Silver sponsors this year are AMP and Eat.

AMP has a well-established relationship with Age Concern. The Team at AMP support our mahi on many levels. As a Making Connections sponsor this year again, they will also have a team of wonderful volunteers who come along and support seniors with that tricky technology on phones or laptops. They help at the Technology and Scam prevention workshops held by Age Concern throughout the year, and we feel like they are an extension of our Age Concern whanau.  Visit their website.

Eat is a new sponsor for 2025 who we welcome to our fabulous event. Eat have been providing fresh, ready to heat and eat meals for 20 years and have recently become the first company in New Zealand to offer texture-modified, IDDSI-compliant ready-to-heat-and-eat meals directly to individual customers, in their own homes. The new range is called EAT Puree. This is a huge deal for people who have difficulty swallowing food or who have been prescribed a soft-food diet. Eat will have an information table on the day as well. Visit their website.

Thank you to our amazing sponsors! Your support helps us create meaningful moments and lasting impact in the lives of our Region’s seniors.
